Occupational Therapy FAQ

  • Occupational Therapy (OT) helps people develop the skills and strategies needed for daily living. This includes everything from dressing and cooking to school participation, mobility, and mental wellbeing.

  • OT is suitable for children, adults, and older adults living with:

    • Physical or intellectual disabilities

    • Sensory processing difficulties

    • Developmental delays

    • Mental health challenges

    • Injuries, chronic pain, or age-related decline

  • An OT works with you to improve your ability to complete everyday tasks. They assess how you’re functioning and then create a personalised plan that may include skill-building, home modifications, equipment prescription, or support for routines and behaviour.

  • You don’t need a referral for private OT sessions. However, if you’re accessing OT through Medicare, DVA, or a My Aged Care or NDIS plan, a referral or approval may be required.

  • Victory Allied Health works with a range of funding programs including:

    • NDIS (Self, Plan, and Agency Managed)

    • DVA (Department of Veterans’ Affairs)
