Dietitian FAQ

  • Accredited Practising Dietitians (APDs) are qualified to assess your nutrition needs and create personalised, evidence-based plans to help you manage health conditions, improve wellbeing, or achieve specific goals through food.

  • Our dietitians support a wide range of concerns, including:

    • Diabetes and weight management

    • Gut health and food intolerances

    • Eating disorders and disordered eating

    • NDIS nutrition support

    • Family and paediatric nutrition

    • Plant-based diets and lifestyle changes

    • Pregnancy and chronic disease

  • You don’t need a referral for private sessions. However, a referral is required if you’re accessing care through Medicare (EPC/CDM), DVA, or My Aged Care.

  • Yes — if you have a GP referral under a Medicare care plan (EPC/CDM), you may be eligible for subsidised sessions. Many private health funds also offer rebates depending on your level of cover.

  • It depends on your goals and complexity. Some people benefit from one or two sessions, while others may need ongoing support over time — especially for chronic conditions, NDIS plans, or eating disorder recovery.

  • Your first session involves a detailed assessment of your medical history, lifestyle, goals, and eating habits. From there, your dietitian will create a practical plan and offer support to help you implement it in a realistic way.

  • Yes — we work with self-managed, plan-managed and agency-managed participants, and provide individualised care, reporting, and communication with support teams.
